Kanoa Chung

Principal Architect, D.Arch, AIA

Born and raised on Kaua’i, Kanoa brings a lifetime of local knowledge to our firm’s diverse portfolio of residential and commercial projects. His Doctorate studies at University of Hawaii focused on developing an integrated and sensitive approach to indigenous based place making. With a proven track record of leading teams and clients through a variety of project types, Kanoa returned to Hawai’i in 2020 determined to build a world class architecture firm from his island home.  Prior to founding Noho Workshop, Kanoa worked and lead projects for several award winning national and international architecture firms.  

Nathan Teixeira

Principal, Technical Director

Nathan is a Kilauea native, a graduate of Cal Poly SLO, and a world traveler.  He has worked as an Architectural Designer and Project Manager on a wide range of residential, commercial, and hospitaltity projects since 2003.  Nathan brings his local knowledge, industry experience, and leadership to Noho workshop where he blends his creativity and technical know-how into making projects successful.  

Rafael Sampaio Rocha

Senior Associate Architect, AIA

Brazil-born and Northeast-raised, this multi-talented artist has found his calling as a designer, illustrator, and custom fabricator. A true jack-of-all-trades, he has made a name for himself as a creative problem solver with a keen eye for detail, aesthetics & unorthodox methods of custom fabrication. After graduating from the Southern California Institute of Architecture, he spent several years working between Europe, Asia and North America operating at the intersection of architecture, design & public art fabrication at well respected offices such as Ball-Nogues Design Studio, Atelier Hitoshi Abe and Herzog & de Meuron. His diverse background and experience bring a multi cultural perspective to our work. Today, he splits his time between Hawaii and California, where he continues to pursue his passion for design and exploration.

 

Stephen Durham

Senior Project Manager

Stephen cares deeply about how buildings are designed and how they come together in the field. He brings experience from several architecture offices and his time at Dowbuilt, where he gained a clear understanding of construction, coordination, and the realities of delivering complex projects at the highest level. His education at Rural Studio shaped his belief that design and building are inseparable, grounding his approach in hands-on learning and practical problem-solving. Travel has further informed his perspective, strengthening his sensitivity to context, climate, and craft. Stephen enjoys working at the intersection of design intent and execution, helping teams translate strong ideas into well-built outcomes. He is steady, thoughtful, and detail-oriented, bringing both curiosity and real-world experience to the projects he leads.

Ian Ham Young

Designer

Ian was born and raised on the North Shore of Kauai, Hawaii, where he developed a deep appreciation for its unique, land, culture, and people. With his passion for design, Ian pursued a career in architecture and gained valuable experience working on custom high-end homes in St Barths. However, his heart remained in Kauai. He returned home with a wealth of local knowledge and family history that he now brings to his projects, creating stunning homes that blend seamlessly with the island's natural beauty and heritage.

Domingo Loero

Designer

Domingo is passionate about sustainable and inclusive design. Born and raised in Hawaii, Domingo draws inspiration from Hawaii’s natural beauty and local vernacular. A carpenter by trade, it gives him a hands-on approach to his designs, ensuring practicality and buildiblity. Trained at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, Domingo brings a global perspective to his work. With a particular interest in low-income residential projects, he strives to create affordable and sustainable spaces that enhance the quality of life for the local community.
